Georgia and Armenia are neighbours with a shared history and entirely different characters. Two ancient Christian nations, two unique alphabets, two distinct cuisines. A combined tour lets you compare and understand both cultures at a deeper level — without flying between them.

The crossing between Georgia and Armenia takes 30–60 minutes at the Sadakhlo–Bagravan border checkpoint. Most nationalities (EU, US, UK, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and others) need no visa for either country.

Georgia and Armenia: Two Countries, One Journey

Few itineraries offer as much diversity as a combined Georgia–Armenia tour. In 7–10 days you experience the Caucasus mountains, ancient cave monasteries, six UNESCO World Heritage sites, two distinct wine cultures (Georgian amber qvevri wine and Armenian brandy), and the legendary hospitality that defines this corner of the world.

Georgia (4–5 days): Tbilisi, the Georgian Military Highway, Kazbegi, and Kakheti with wine tasting. The standard "highlights of Georgia" programme — old town, monasteries, mountain scenery.

Crossing into Armenia. From Tbilisi to Yerevan is 280 km by car via the Sadakhlo/Bagravan border checkpoint — around 4.5–5 hours total. The road is scenic: the Debed river gorge, and the Akpat Monastery complex (UNESCO) sits right along the way.

Armenia (3–4 days): Yerevan — a rose-tuff city with the Greater Caucasus on the horizon. Garni (1st c. AD) — the only pagan temple in the former Soviet Union. Geghard (13th c.) — a monastery half-carved into solid rock. Khor Virap — a monastery at the foot of Mount Ararat, with the best photography angle for the iconic peak.

Practical Information

The border is crossed by car and takes 30–60 minutes. Citizens of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan need no visa for either Georgia or Armenia. EU and US passport holders are also visa-free. In Yerevan, Timur can connect you with a trusted local Armenian guide for deeper cultural immersion.

Why Choose the Georgia + Armenia Tour

Two Caucasuses in one trip — and they are completely different. Georgia: wine, khachapuri, green valleys. Armenia: brandy, lavash, volcanic landscapes. The border crossing takes 30 minutes by car from Tbilisi. In 3–5 days in Armenia you see Tbilisi + Mtskheta + Garni Temple + Geghard + Lake Sevan + Yerevan. Timur organises the transport, arranges a vetted guide for the Armenian side, and handles the border crossing without queues — he knows the schedule and the quiet hours.

Timur's Tip

The Georgia–Armenia border at Sadakhlo–Bagravan takes 30–40 minutes to cross. Tbilisi to Yerevan is 4 hours by car. The sweet spot: 4–5 days in Georgia + 3 days in Armenia. You need a valid passport for the border — citizens of Russia and most CIS countries are visa-free in both countries. Don't cross with a rental car unless the rental agreement explicitly allows it.
