Why us

Why choose a private guide over a tour agency?

Private guide — a different experience

01
Russian & English

Timur lives in Tbilisi and knows every corner. Not just a guide — almost a neighbour who shows you around his city.

02
Your own route

In Kakheti we visit winemaker Giorgi — his wine isn't sold anywhere. In Kazbegi we leave at 06:30 while the mountains are clear. A bus tour can't do that.

03
Max 7 people

Four people in Kazbegi costs ₾32 each — cheaper than a bus. But it's just your group, stopping wherever you want, leaving when you want.

04
No hidden fees

Transfer, guide, entry tickets — all in. No 'pay extra on site'. Pay on tour day by cash or card.

10:00 Guide speaks Georgian, then translates Driving on the highway. Nobody told you there's a scenic road "Let me show you a spot tourists never reach"
12:00 "We leave in 10 minutes." No time to eat Roadside cafe — the only one you could find Lunch at Manana's. You make khinkali yourself, wine from qvevri
14:00 Queue at Gergeti: 60 people ahead of you Gergeti Trinity closed on Mondays Timur knows everyone. You go in while others wait outside
16:00 Bus heads home. Mt Kazbek in clouds — not your day Wanted to see the lake — didn't know where it was We wait for the clouds to clear. We'll go higher
19:00 Home. Exhausted by the crowd Home. Lost half the day Home. 200 photos, secret location contacts, memories for life

Tourists

Sakhva Travel is a private guide service in Tbilisi, founded by Timur in 2023. Timur was born in Tbilisi, grew up in the Caucasus, and returned home 10 years ago — not as a tourist, but for good. Sakhva Travel grew out of this personal knowledge of the city.

We show Georgia the way a local sees it: not from a checklist of sights, but in layers. First the facades, then the courtyards, then the people. We know when to head to Kazbegi so the mountains are cloud-free. We know which courtyard in the Old Town makes the best homemade wine. We know the unmarked cafe where locals eat khinkali at 7am. You can't Google this — it comes with years.

Since 2023, over 500 tourists have traveled with Sakhva Travel, and no route has ever been repeated — because every group is different.

Frequently Asked Questions

From ₾77 per person (Mtskheta) to ₾595 (3-day Slow Travel). The most popular is the Kazbegi day trip at ₾175/person. All prices include: comfortable car transfer, guide Timur for the full day, entrance tickets. Departure at 08:00, return around 22:00 — 14 hours total. Groups of maximum 7 people. Pay cash or by card on tour day.
Message us on WhatsApp +995 511 272 623 or Telegram @SakhvaGuideBot — reply within 15 minutes, daily 08:00–22:00. Pay on tour day by cash (GEL, USD, or EUR) or card. Just let us know the date, number of people, and which tour — we'll find the right option for you.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before — no questions asked, no penalties. For the Kazbegi tour: if weather is poor on the day, Timur will personally suggest rescheduling at no charge. You can change the date as many times as needed.
Best months are May–June and September–October: green slopes, clear skies, Mt. Kazbek fully visible. July–August are fine but can be hot in the valley. Winter is magical — snow-covered peaks and almost no tourists. We operate year-round. Tbilisi–Kazbegi is 157 km, about 2.5–3 hours along the Georgian Military Highway.
Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) is the most popular choice — a scenic 14-hour journey along the Georgian Military Highway. You will see Ananuri Fortress, the Gudauri viewpoint at 2395m, and Gergeti Trinity Church with Mt. Kazbek (5047m) in the background. For wine enthusiasts, the Kakheti tour visits Sighnaghi, Bodbe Monastery, and traditional qvevri wineries.
Group tours mean 20–40 people, a bus, a fixed schedule, and stops at tourist shops. With us — maximum 7 people, your own guide Timur, a route tailored to you, no tourist shop detours. Four people on the Kazbegi tour comes to $12 per person. That's cheaper than most bus tours, and the quality isn't comparable.
Yes. All tours can be adjusted based on your interests. Want to add a wine tasting to the Kazbegi trip? Or combine Kutaisi with a dinner experience? Message Timur on WhatsApp and he will create a custom itinerary at no extra planning fee.
Guide Timur is fluent in English and Russian. All tours are available in both languages. The booking process works via WhatsApp (+995 511 272 623) or Telegram (@SakhvaGuideBot).
No. You pay after the tour in Georgian Lari (GEL), USD, or EUR. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time. No deposits required.
All Sakhva Travel tours are available in Russian and English. Guide Timur is fluent in both languages. If your group includes both Russian and English speakers, Timur will conduct the tour bilingually. Fully English-only tours are also available for international groups.
Maximum 7 people in one vehicle. This is your private group — no strangers. If your party exceeds 7, we arrange two vehicles with two guides at the same per-person rate. Child seats available on request; children under 6 ride free.
We pick up from any hotel or apartment in central Tbilisi. If you're staying outside the center (Digomi, Gldani, Varketili), share your address and we'll calculate the departure time. For the Kazbegi tour, departure is usually at 08:00; for the Tbilisi city tour — at any time convenient for you.
A comfortable SUV or minivan with air conditioning, USB charging, and child seats on request. For mountain routes (Kazbegi, Kutaisi) we use 4WD vehicles. The car is clean and well-maintained — we understand that comfort on the road matters.
The price includes: hotel pickup and drop-off, English or Russian speaking guide for the full day, entrance tickets to all sites on the route. Not included: meals (lunch and dinner) and souvenirs. The guide will recommend places with great food at fair prices — no forced restaurant stops.
Yes, that's the main advantage of a private tour. Want to linger at a waterfall or visit a village you spotted from the window? Just say the word. The route is flexible and the time is yours. The only constraint is the overall tour duration.
On the Kazbegi route, guide Timur recommends 2-3 tried-and-tested restaurants: one near Ananuri Fortress (khinkali with reservoir views), one in Stepantsminda (authentic Georgian cuisine without tourist markups). Average lunch cost is 25-40 GEL per person. You can also bring your own food.
Yes, Sakhva Travel operates year-round. Winter highlights include: snow-covered Kazbegi (when the Cross Pass is open), night Tbilisi with festive illumination, Abanotubani sulfur baths. Kakheti in winter means quiet wineries without crowds. Before every winter tour we check weather and road conditions.
Yes, subject to availability. Message us on WhatsApp (+995 511 272 623) or Telegram (@SakhvaGuideBot) — Timur responds within 15 minutes and will confirm. During high season (May-October) booking 2-3 days ahead is recommended. No prepayment required.
Yes. The Slow Travel package is 3 days with guide Timur: a new route each day, airport transfer included. 595 GEL all-in. We can also design a custom multi-day itinerary: for example, Tbilisi + Kazbegi + Kakheti over 4 days. Pricing is calculated individually.
Yes. All our routes follow paved roads with stops at comfortable locations. In Kazbegi we drive up by car, not on foot. The pace is adjusted to your group. The only walking section is the ascent to Gergeti Trinity Church (optional — you can stay below with the view).
We accept: cash (GEL, USD, EUR), bank cards (Visa, Mastercard), cryptocurrency (USDT, BTC, ETH via NOWPayments). Payment is at the end of the tour, no prepayment required. Tips are not included and are at your discretion.
On aggregator platforms you book an 'excursion'; with us you book a specific guide — Timur. The route adapts to you in real time. No platform commission means lower prices for the same quality. Direct communication via WhatsApp with no intermediaries. And free cancellation without the penalties aggregators charge.
Comfortable shoes (trainers), a jacket or windbreaker (it's 10-15°C cooler in the mountains), sunscreen, water. For the climb to Gergeti Trinity Church — proper sports shoes are a must. In winter — warm jacket, hat, gloves. Before the tour, Timur will send recommendations based on the weather forecast.
Yes. We organize corporate excursions for groups of 5 to 30 people. Team building, khinkali cooking masterclasses, restaurant dinners, old Tbilisi quests. Multiple vehicles, English and Russian speaking guides. From 2,200 GEL per group. Contact us for a custom quote.
