Sakhva Travel is a private tour service in Tbilisi, founded by Timur in 2023. Timur was born in Tbilisi, grew up in the Caucasus, and returned home 10 years ago — not as a tourist, but for good. Sakhva Travel grew out of this personal knowledge of the city.
We show Georgia the way a local sees it: not from a checklist of sights, but in layers. First the facades, then the courtyards, then the people. We know when to head to Kazbegi so the mountains are cloud-free. We know which courtyard in the Old Town makes the best homemade wine. We know the unmarked cafe where locals eat khinkali at 7am. You can't Google this — it comes with years.

The price includes a comfortable car transfer from your hotel in central Tbilisi, English-speaking guide Timur for the whole day, and entrance fees to all sites. Departure at 09:00, return to Tbilisi around 21:00 — 12 hours total. Maximum 7 people per group: no buses, no strangers. For a group of four, the cost is just ₾32 per person. Pay in cash or by card on the day of the tour.
Book a private tour with guide Timur via WhatsApp at +995 511 272 623 or Telegram bot @SakhvaGuideBot. Timur responds daily from 08:00 to 22:00 Tbilisi time, average response time 15 minutes. To book, just provide your preferred date, number of people, and which tour interests you. 10% prepayment on booking — the remainder is paid on tour day in cash (GEL, USD, EUR), by card, or cryptocurrency. After confirming the date, Timur will send a detailed route plan, departure time, and clothing recommendations.
Free cancellation is available 48 hours before the tour — no questions asked, no penalties. For Kazbegi tours, there is a special policy: if the weather is bad on tour day and clouds cover the mountains, guide Timur will contact you and offer to reschedule for free. If a new date does not work for you, everything you paid is refunded in full. For Tbilisi and Kakheti tours, rain is not a reason to cancel: sulfur baths, markets, wine cellars, and restaurants are equally great in any weather. Prepayment is only 10%, fully refundable if cancelled 48 hours ahead.
The best time to visit Kazbegi from Tbilisi is May-June and September-October. Hillsides are green, skies clear, and Mt Kazbek fully visible. July-August also works but can be hotter with more clouds. Winter is unique: Gergeti Church in snow without tourists, though Cross Pass may close due to avalanche risk. Distance from Tbilisi to Kazbegi: 157 km along the Georgian Military Highway, 2.5-3 hours. Sakhva Travel operates year-round. Guide Timur checks weather and road conditions before every tour, offering free reschedule if needed.
No visa needed for most tourists. Citizens of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Armenia and other CIS countries can enter Georgia visa-free for up to 365 days with a passport. EU, US, UK, Israel, Japan and 90+ other countries also enjoy visa-free entry. Georgia is one of the most open countries in the world. At the border, just show your passport — no forms, invitations or return tickets required. There is no minimum group: the price is per vehicle, so two people pay the same as seven — from ₾80 for a Tbilisi walk to ₾175 for Kazbegi. For parties of 8 or more we quote individually and send the total in WhatsApp right away. Luggage, a stroller or sports gear fits in the minivan boot.
From any hotel or apartment in central Tbilisi. Outside the center (Digomi, Gldani, Varketili) — share your address. For Kazbegi, departure at 09:00; for city tours — any time convenient for you. We also pick up at Tbilisi Airport: if you land in the morning, a Mtskheta or Kakheti tour can start straight from the terminal, with your bags in the car until check-in. For example, on the Kazbegi tour you can swap Ananuri for a dip in the Pasanauri mineral springs, and in Kakheti choose between Sighnaghi and Telavi depending on whether you prefer views or wineries. If you want more photo time, lunch runs long or the kids get tired — just say so and Timur re-plans on the go. Extra charges apply only for genuinely extra kilometres, and only when agreed beforehand.
Guide Timur recommends 2-3 tried restaurants: one near Ananuri Fortress (khinkali with reservoir views), one in Stepantsminda (authentic cuisine without tourist markups). Average lunch: 25-40 GEL per person. Timur takes no commission from restaurants, so he recommends places where he eats himself: khinkali in Pasanauri, where they were invented, and home cooking in Stepantsminda with a view of Mount Kazbek. We allow about an hour for lunch, which can be shortened or extended. Vegetarians will find lobio, pkhali, khachapuri and grilled vegetables almost everywhere. To save money, there are bakeries along the way with fresh bread from the tone oven.

Kakheti in winter = quiet wineries without crowds.heck weather and road conditions before every winter tour. If the Cross Pass is closed by snow, we offer a full-value replacement: Mtskheta and Jvari Monastery, Kakheti, Borjomi or winter Gori with Uplistsikhe. Timur lets you know the day before, and you decide whether to reschedule or change direction. From December to February Tbilisi is usually +5 to +12 °C, the mountains down to −10 °C, so warm clothes and non-slip shoes are a must. Winter prices are the same as summer, with more free dates.

Yes. All routes follow paved roads with comfortable stops. In Kazbegi we drive up by car, not on foot. The pace is adjusted to your group. The only walking section is the optional ascent to Gergeti Trinity Church. For parents and grandparents guests often choose Mtskheta (half a day, level paths around Svetitskhoveli), Kakheti with its wineries, and Tbilisi by car with short walks. You can rest in the car at any moment, and we stop for the toilet and coffee every 1.5–2 hours. If help getting in and out or a slower walking pace is needed, let us know — Timur plans the day around it.
