Dashbashi Canyon Tour from Tbilisi — Diamond Waterfall & Glass Bridge
Dashbashi Canyon near the town of Tsalka is one of Georgia's most photogenic natural sights: a deep green gorge with the Diamond Waterfall, a glass observation bridge suspended over the valley and a cafe hanging above the cliff. Just two hours from Tbilisi, it makes an easy and dramatic day in nature.
The Glass Bridge over the Gorge
The centrepiece of Dashbashi is the 240-metre glass observation bridge stretching across the canyon at a height of around 280 metres. In the middle hangs a diamond-shaped glass capsule with a cafe — one of the most unusual viewpoints in Georgia.
Walking the transparent deck above the green gorge is a genuine thrill, and the views down the valley to the waterfalls are extraordinary.
The Diamond Waterfall
From the bridge a path leads down into the canyon to the Diamond Waterfall — a wide curtain of water tumbling over mossy rock. The descent takes about 20–30 minutes and the gorge below is cool, green and full of small cascades.
The canyon floor feels like another world after the open highland above: ferns, springs and the constant sound of water.
Tsalka and the Highlands
The drive crosses the volcanic plateau of Kvemo Kartli, passing the wide Tsalka reservoir and grazing highlands. It is a landscape of big skies and few people — very different from the lush valleys most tours visit.
On the way we stop for the best viewpoints and, in season, for local honey and dairy from highland villages.
Timur's insider tip
Go down to the waterfall, do not just stay on the bridge — most people photograph the gorge from above and leave, but the canyon floor with the Diamond Waterfall is the real reward. Wear shoes with grip: the path down can be slippery after rain. The glass-capsule cafe is worth a coffee for the view alone. And mornings are best — by midday tour buses arrive and the bridge gets busy.
Detailed itinerary
The tour starts with a morning pickup and a roughly two-hour drive south-west onto the Tsalka plateau. The road climbs steadily out of the valleys into open highland scenery.
At Dashbashi we walk the glass bridge, then descend into the canyon to the Diamond Waterfall and the cascades along the river before climbing back up for lunch with a view. The return to Tbilisi takes about two hours.

What to bring
- Shoes with good grip — the path into the canyon can be slippery
- A light jacket — the highlands are cooler and windier than the city
- Sunscreen and sunglasses for the open plateau
- Camera — the bridge, the gorge and the waterfall are all highly photogenic
Best time to visit
Late spring to autumn (May–October) is ideal: the gorge is green and the waterfall full. Winter is possible in dry, clear weather but the descent can be icy.
