Tbilisi — Georgia's capital, founded 1,500 years ago at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. The city offers walking tours from ₾94/person (3-4 hours), a night tour through the city's hidden courtyards, a gastro tour with 5-7 food stops, and day trips to Kazbegi, Kakheti and Mtskheta. Minimum 2 days recommended to see the city properly.
Why Tbilisi deserves a full day
Tbilisi is one of those cities that looks different every hour. The Old Town of Abanotubani — sulfur bath domes, carved wooden balconies, Metekhi cliff — feels medieval in the morning. The Bridge of Peace over the Mtkvari River is contemporary architecture at its best. Narikala Fortress is Roman-era ruins. And the Fabrika creative complex is a Soviet sewing factory turned into a hip market.
The city's unique geography — built into hills and gorges — means every neighbourhood has its own character. Sololaki is aristocratic decay and hidden courtyards. Vera is tree-lined and slightly bohemian. Vake is uphill and upscale. A good guide changes how you read all of this.

Best time to visit Tbilisi
- April-June — ideal: warm, green, outdoor cafes open, not crowded yet
- September-October — also excellent: slightly cooler, harvest season in Kakheti nearby
- July-August — hot (+35°C) but vibrant nightlife and all attractions fully open. Plan outdoor sightseeing for early morning
- Winter (Dec-Feb) — cozy atmosphere, Christmas markets, fewer tourists. Tbilisi doesn't really get cold (0°C to +10°C)
Timur showed us a Tbilisi we never would have found on our own. The Sololaki courtyards, the bar with the blue door, the woman selling khinkali from her apartment window — all the things that make a city real. The gastro tour alone was worth the whole trip.
