The resorts in detail

Gudauri

Gudauri

Georgia's most popular ski resort. The village sits at about 2,200 m and the lifts reach above 3,000 m. Runs for every level, plus freeride and heli-skiing.

Bakuriani

Bakuriani

A resort in the Borjomi gorge at about 1,700 m. The gentle Didveli and Kokhta slopes suit children and beginners. Borjomi, with its mineral springs and warm sulphur pools, is next door — a good 2-day combination.

Goderdzi

A high-mountain resort in Adjara, in the mountains above Batumi. It gets a lot of snow and is the easy option if you are staying on the coast and want one day on the slopes.

Tetnuldi & Hatsvali

Two resorts in Svaneti near Mestia. Tetnuldi has long runs with views of Ushba and Shkhara; Hatsvali is a small slope right above town. It is far from Tbilisi, so plan at least 3–4 days.

Ski resorts in Georgia — FAQ

What is the best ski resort in Georgia?
For most people, Gudauri: the largest, highest and closest to Tbilisi. Families and beginners are better off in Bakuriani. If you are on the coast in Batumi, choose Goderdzi. For experienced skiers on a longer trip, Tetnuldi in Svaneti.
When is the ski season in Georgia?
Usually from mid-December to early April, with the most reliable snow from January to March. Exact lift opening dates depend on snow and are announced by each resort.
Gudauri or Bakuriani — which one?
Gudauri is higher, with more runs, freeride and Caucasus views. Bakuriani is calmer and gentler, good for children, with Borjomi's springs next door. Many people do both: Gudauri one day, Borjomi and Bakuriani another.
