Timur's Tip
Day 1 in Batumi: boulevard walk, Old Town, Piazza. Day 2: Gonio Fortress, Botanical Garden. The drive from Tbilisi takes 5–6 hours, so one day simply isn't enough — budget at least two nights. For accommodation I recommend staying in the Old Town (₾80–120/night) — walkable to everything and much quieter than the beach strip.
Three Practical Tips
- Rabati Fortress in Akhaltsikhe is open until 22:00 — you can time it for sunset. But if you're continuing to Batumi the same day, don't linger too long.
- Batumi is subtropical: July–August brings frequent but short rain showers. A light rain jacket or compact umbrella is worth packing.
- Batumi Airport is just 2 km from the city centre — taxi costs ₾10. If you're flying home from Batumi, there's no need to return to Tbilisi.
What to Bring
- Swimsuit and beach sandals (the beach is pebble, not sand)
- Light rain jacket or compact umbrella
- Comfortable shoes for fortresses (uneven cobblestones at Rabati and Gonio)

- Power bank — 3 days on the road means heavy phone use for maps and photos
Included
- Private transfer throughout the tour

- Borjomi and Rabati stops en route
- Batumi city tour and coastline
Not Included

The Route in Detail
Two travel options: by car (flexible route with stops along the way) or train + meeting in Batumi. By car: depart at 07:30, coffee stop in Khashuri, lunch in Kutaisi, arrive by 14:00. In Batumi: Europe Square, Argo Cable Car (₾15, panoramic view of the city), Ali and Nino — the famous moving sculpture. Dinner at a seafood restaurant on the waterfront (seafood set approx. ₾50). Overnight in Batumi or return on the night train.
The Tbilisi–Batumi route crosses the whole of western Georgia: Imereti vineyards, tea plantations near Ozurgeti, Adjaria's subtropical forests. Along the way you can stop in Kutaisi (Prometheus Cave, Okatse Canyon) or Borjomi (mineral springs, national park). Transport options: private car with guide (most flexible, stop wherever you wish), Stadler train (5 hrs, tickets from ₾25, reclining seats, Wi-Fi), night train (8 hrs, sleeping car from ₾35 — arrive refreshed in the morning). My recommendation: drive one way and take the train back, so you see the scenery by daylight in both directions.

Why Travellers Choose Sakhva Travel
Over 3 years working as a guide in Tbilisi I have led more than 500 tours and I know what travellers value most: punctuality, concrete information instead of vague generalities, and willingness to adapt the route on the fly. Every tour is individual — I don't fill coaches with 40 people. Maximum 7 guests means you can ask every question, stop wherever you like, and spend as much time at each spot as you want.
A 4.9 rating on Google Maps (94 reviews) is no coincidence. I reply on WhatsApp within 10–15 minutes, send a detailed plan before the tour, and am always reachable afterwards. Many guests return for a second and third tour — that's the best compliment I can receive.
