Vietnam — a travel guide for 2026
Vietnam at a glance
Vietnam is a budget-friendly, colourful Asian destination: a long coastline of beaches, green mountains, rice terraces and rich cuisine. The most popular spots are the resort of Nha Trang and the island of Phu Quoc.
The country stretches nearly 1,700 km north to south, so the climate varies a lot by region. Many nationalities enjoy visa-free entry or a simple e-visa.
Visa and entry
Entry rules depend on your nationality. Russian citizens may stay visa-free for up to 45 days; for longer stays an e-visa is issued online. Many other nationalities also use the e-visa.
- Passport valid at least 6 months
- Russian citizens: visa-free up to 45 days
- Longer stays — e-visa online
When to go
The best time depends on the region. For the south (Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City) the dry season is November–April. Central Nha Trang is best January–August.
The north (Hanoi, Ha Long) is nicest in spring and autumn. The rainy season brings short but heavy downpours — worth considering when choosing dates.
What to see in Vietnam

Phu Quoc Island
A tropical island with white beaches, a sea cable car and a safari park.
Ho Chi Minh City & Hanoi
The two main cities, with French colonial architecture, markets and street food.
