Thailand at a glance

Thailand is the most popular exotic destination for many travellers: warm seas, tropical nature, affordable food and well-developed tourism. The holiday is very varied — from buzzing Bangkok and Pattaya to the quiet islands of the Andaman Sea.

The main beach destinations are Phuket, Krabi, Samui and Phi Phi. Bangkok is the gateway and the hub for onward island flights.

Visa and entry

Entry rules depend on your nationality. Russian citizens may stay visa-free for up to 60 days for tourism; many other nationalities also enjoy visa-free entry or visa on arrival. Check before you travel.

When to go

High season is November to March: dry, sunny, +28–32°C. This is the best time for beaches and islands, but also the priciest.

From May to October it is the rainy season (short but frequent downpours), cheaper and quieter. Weather differs by coast: when Phuket is wet, Samui can be drier.

What to see in Thailand

Bangkok

The Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun temples, floating markets and street food. The country’s gateway and island transfer point.

Phuket

The largest island, with Patong, Kata and Karon beaches and trips to the Phi Phi and James Bond islands.

Krabi & Phi Phi

Karst cliffs, lagoons and some of Thailand’s most postcard-perfect scenery — paradise for snorkelling and kayaking.

Chiang Mai

The north: mountain temples, ethical elephant sanctuaries and a cooler climate.

Trip budget

Approximate 2026 prices for two people:

Thailand offers a great balance of price and the exotic: lodging and food are cheap, with flights the main expense.

Asia in winter, Georgia in summer

Many alternate a winter in Asia with the warm season in Georgia. Planning a Georgian summer? We will build an authored route with mountains, wine and Tbilisi.
