Gas stations (Wissol, Socar, Gulf, Lukoil) are on all main highways. No gas stations in mountain areas (Tusheti, Upper Svaneti) — fill up in the last town.

- Tbilisi — Kazbegi (160 km, ~3 h) — Georgian Military Highway. Paved, scenic, mountain pass at 2,379 m
- Tbilisi — Kakheti (90–120 km, ~1.5–2 h) — good road via Gombori Pass
4WD required
- Tusheti (Omalo) — one of the world's most dangerous mountain roads. Dirt track, cliff edges. June–October only.
- Upper Svaneti (Ushguli) — 45 km of dirt road from Mestia, river crossings
- Goderdzi Pass (Adjara) — partially paved, 4WD recommended after rain
- Khevsureti (Shatili) — dirt road, 4WD mandatory. June–October

Batumi is the second most popular city for car rental. Prices are 5–10% higher than Tbilisi. The airport is small — renting in the city or via is better value.
